Vlada Korol: Love The Skin You Are In!
Happy International Women’s Day March 8th!
About a year ago I had the pleasure of spending a day on the beach in Nice, France. The atmosphere was superb! A breathtaking view of the blue water of Cote D’azur, trendy cocktail bars, and conversations in French (my favorite language)… was the final touch to perfection. I gladly paid the insane price of 25 Euros just to rent a beach chair, which at least came with a fluffy, stylish towel and a tiny spray can. In the midst of relaxation in style of the French Riviera, I discovered a product that every woman’s skin deserves. Thermal Water from region of France called Avene, packaged in an aerosol bottle.
At first I thought to myself, “why would someone need water in a can to spray on their skin?” and then I tried it! What an amazing, cooling mist falling on hot skin, cooling you off without having to get up from that comfortable lounge chair. As a pharmacist, I started to wonder what is inside this magical, fun product? Turns out that Avène Thermal Spring Water starts out as rain water that falls onto the Cevennes Mountains. The water travels for many years collecting mountain minerals (trace elements and silicates) along the way which are helpful for healthy skin, especially senstiive skin. “Avène soothes, softens, and restores skin’s natural balance. Over 300 stringent biological, pharmacological and clinical studies have clearly demonstrated the skin-healing and soothing benefits of Avène Thermal Spring Water.” In the city of Avene there is a gigantic Hydrotherapy Center to address a variety of more severe dermatological conditions such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, itchytosis and burns. The Avene Thermal Spring water is a favorite product used by the world famous French fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. Bazaar magazine spotted the spray on Lagerfeld’s bathroom shelf during their exclusive, interesting interview “Karl Lagerfeld in 24 Hours”.
Since my trip to sunny Nice, Avene Thermal Spring Water travels all the way from France to Chicago, and is available at Kedvon Pharmacy at 56 S. Milwaukee Ave. Wheeling, IL 60090. It comes in three sizes, Large- 300ml for $16.00, Medium-150ml for $11.50, and the Travel size-50 ml costs $7.50.
